Judge Sam Moore (Morval)

I would like to extend my sincere thanks to the committee for inviting me to judge at the Southern Finnish Lapphund Society Championship Show and granting me the honour of awarding my first set of CCs. Special appreciation also goes to my diligent stewards, Lyn and Di, whose efforts ensured the ring ran smoothly. Despite the very hotweather, I am grateful to all exhibitors for entering, accepting my decisions with such
grace, and making the day so enjoyable.

Baby Puppy (1)
1st and Best baby puppy in show – Mr K & Mrs K Jarvis – Elbereth Nuka – Could benefit from a bit more schooling to show his potential but sympathetically handled. Broad head, dark oval eye, good earset but ears could be a tad smaller. Good angulation front and back and well enough for bone. When settled he moved well.

Puppy Dog (3,( 2ABS) Mrs K Jakel O’khelyara Vilya Elrond – Lovely chunky Brown pup with Broad head and muzzle with neat well-set ears. Eyes a little round and light although eye colour harmonises with the coat. Good reach of neck onto well laid shoulders, good forechest Strong well-built body and short loin, well set hocks. Good rear moved well. A fabulous coat on him.

Junior Dog (4) 2 Abs
1st as puppy dog
2nd – Mr T Lloyd Arianhood Havukruunu
17mth lad with a Broad head and muzzle. Correct ears and good neck onto well laid shoulders. Slightly longer in body than my first place and left his coat at home although what he did have was of good texture. Has a tendency to turn his back legs out slightly on the stand but on the move he is correct.

Limit (6) 2 Abs
1st Meikle and Henderson’s – Elbereth Etiainen at Lintukoto 2yr old male With a lovely head and expression, neat well-set ears onto a good neck and well laid shoulders, a strong body with good angulation front and back well-set hocks. Moved well with the right amount of drive he Just lost out to the maturity of my open winner but I’m sure his time will come RCC.
2nd Short’s – Arianrhod Aavevalo to Glenchess. Another lovely boy who will gain top honours I’m sure once he matures more. Head could be slightly broader which will come with age as it has all the proportions, neat well-set ears, good reach of neck, good forechest and good angulation front and rear. Moved well.

Open (5) 2 Abs
1st Jakel’s Bos CH O’Khelyara Uilos Lebennin FR/BEL/LUX JCH
This boy caught my eye the minute he came in the ring, and I wasn’t disappointed when going over him. A beautiful headpiece with small well-set ears. Strong neck and body, good forechest with correct angles front and rear which really showed In his effortless movement. I could have watched him all day.
2nd Oberitz Kaamokshen Ruhtinas JW. A boy I have judged before and he gets better with age although today he had his
cheeky head on and made his handler work for it, I do love a bit of character. Masculine head with broad muzzle and skull, small well-set ears and strong body. Moved well once he settled.

Veteran (6) 1 Abs
1st Short’s Ch Glenchess Gregory A favourite of mine, such a gentle sweet boy but masculine throughout. With a lovely head and expression. Good angulation throughout good body proportions and bone. moves out well and was pleased to award him BVIS.
2nd Samuel’s Oberitz Upponalle – Brown boy of adequate size and bone, has a lovely head and expression, neat small ears and strong neck. Strongly built body, tends to turn his back legs out slightly on the stand and the move

Special Vintage (1)
1st Cooper & Critchlow’s Ch Pavoskas Aly Arttu JW ShCM shCex VW – Another one I have judged before although he is like a fine wine he gets better with age. A well made boy with a lovely expression and eye, would prefer a slightly shorter / broader muzzle. Excellent neck and front angulation into a well-proportioned body. Adequate bone moved true and with purpose.

Pup Bitch (3) 1 Abs
1st Jakel’s O’khelyara Vilya Artany’s 1yr old Bitch with a most beautiful head, correct ears and strong neck good forechest and front and rear angulation, moved round the ring with purpose and really caught my eye, loved her and will follow her with interest was pleased to award her the RCC.
2nd Fowler’s – Whinfoss Kesanlehvissto at Lapinruska 10mth bitch with slightly finer proportions, pretty head Small correctly placed ears and a nice shape to her I would just prefer more of her. Very well-schooled and handled

1st Birk’s Pavoskas Galena 2yr old bitch that came in her bikini today but what she did have was of good texture, a feminine head of good proportions, well set ears good length of neck and good angulation throughout. Moved well.
2nd Whinfoss Kesanlehvissto at Lapinruska |As per 2nd in puppy.

Post Graduate (3) 2 Abs
1st Pelling’s Tabanyaruu Aurora Ahkera 3.5 yr old Bitch with a Broad but feminine head, slightly rounder eyes, ears could be slightly smaller but are set well apart. Strong neck and body with a short loin. Moves out well with her handler and so well-schooled

Limit (4) 2 Abs
1st Stanley’s Ansalfrose Vivi JW. Smaller bitch but still within standard, pretty head piece with well set small ears, correct bite and good neck and body. Moved well I would just prefer a bit more of her.
2nd Proctor’s Alkantra Talvi Hamara with Cathbri. Bigger bitch with a slightly long tapered muzzle, small ears set well apart. Strong neck and body but slightly long in loin. I feel that she needs to body up to give her best potential. She tends to turn her front feet out on the stand and when moving however her back angles are correct.

Open (4) 2 Abs
1st Allison’s Oberitz Tumma Ruhtinatar – litter sister to my 2nd in open dog 4yr old strong but feminine bitch, small neat set ears, strong neck and body, short loin. Moved well from all angles.
2nd Jakel’s Int/Lux Ch totally Spies Alex Legend of Raven A smaller bitch all over, Pretty head with neat well set ears, good neck slightly long in body and would prefer more length of leg. Good angulation front and rear. Coat was of a good texture. Moved well

Veteran (4) 2 Abs
1st Meikle & Henderson’s Vis Et Gloria Notte at Lintukoto (IMP ITA) A strong bitch with correct head proportions although ears were slightly large. Good body shape and angulation and in good coat. Moved ok
2nd Anderson’s – Oberitz Vallila for limishka – femine head with well set ears, good mouth and strong neck, Good forechest slightly longer in body with a good coat. once she decided she didn’t want to sit at my feet she moved out ok.

Vintage (2) 1 Abs
1st Bell’s Allforus Midnight Dream – Another beautiful bitch who I have judged previously and given top honours to,she moves so well especially as she had to swap handler due to her handler injuring herself. Broad but feminine head. Correct bite good reach of neck and forechest. Excellent body and angulations. Moved out well with purpose. BCC

Good Citizen (4) 1 Abs
1st Critchlow & Rudd’s Pavoskas Hili Helmi – Smaller bitch, eyes slightly round. feminine head and neat ears, I would prefer a little more length to her muzzle. Body in proportion with good angles Moved well.
2nd Lock’s Pikkuihme Tahtipoly – pretty bitch but would prefer a little more strength to her head. Small well set ears, she has a good shape and angulation but could benefit from a smaller waistline and it showed in her movement today.
